Ford vs Ferrari (2019) Movie Review

Heading aside from Mani Ratnam Week for today, I decided to watch one of the movies nominated for the Academy Awards 2020, Ford vs Ferrari. I have bought the film before the lockdown and after 2 months in lockdown, I found an opportunity to watch this film. How did the film feel to me? Here's my take on Ford vs Ferrari:
Ford vs Ferrari is a 2019 sports drama starring Cristian Bale, Matt Damon in lead roles. It is directed by James Mangold. The story revolves around Carol Shellby, Ken Miles and a ton load of cars of Ford, Ferrari, Porsche etc.,

This film is a dream for every car lover. Every single scene of the movie is about cars. The love for driving, the risk of driving, the corporatism behind driving, the technicalities of driving, you name it, they got it. It is also very understandable for people who do not have any exposure to cars and racing. It is due to the cinematic brilliance of the director James Mangold. The film is very thrilling and exhilarating to watch. It has an enjoyable atmosphere which makes the film real and relatable. It is also informative with all the knowledge of cars. In between all of it are the character design. Every character in the film is relatable and genuinely touch our hearts. The racing scenes are so so good. It is mind-blowing what they have achieved. I regret not experiencing it in the theatres. The screenplay and direction of the film are fantastic.

The acting of the film is excellent. Christian Bale, you beauty. He plays Ken Miles in the film. A champion racer who quits at his peak and now tries to get back again. This character is complete, we essentially the complete-life cycle of this character and my god, does Christian Bale bring this character to life. Add to that. Matt Damon. He has been giving consistent performances for several years now. His character "Carol Shellby" has great bromance with Ken Miles. It really leads to some of the best scenes in the film. The complete management of Ford including Henry Ford II, Lee Lacocca, Beo Beebes give very good performances as each of their motives are clear and some great acting gives it a nice polish. Caitriona Balfe gives a very charming performance as some of her scenes with Ken Miles are very funny. Overall, this is a very well acted film.

The technical aspects of the film are so good that they received Oscars. It won for Best Editing and Best Sound Editing. It is justified because when we shoot car racing, the most important part of it is the revving and all that. It takes real expertise in how they make it work. The editing even though it is a long film i.e., 2hr 30min but it is fast just like a racing car. It is smooth and the transitions perfect. The cinematography too is excellent. It creates the vibes of the 50's and 60's really well. This is the real world unlike the Hollywood-esque treatment in Once Upon a time in Hollywood. The soundtrack of the film gets full credit for the light and fun feel to it. They are really worth a buy in iTunes.

In the end, this is a sports drama which is fast and revving like a good-ol sports car. We connect to the characters real quick and surrender ourselves to them so that they take us on an exhilarating ride throughout the rest of the film. This is because of the masterful directions, real and relatable characters and some brilliant racing scenes. If you ever wanna watch a film on cars, this is the first choice.
