Ala Vainkunthapurramlo (2020) Movie Review

The year 2020 got a real good start with the form of these Sankranthi films. These films are big big financial hits and are still continuing to get hefty shares to the distributors. Of course, I could not find the tickets for the film until today. So, is the film worth of all the money? Let's see.
Ala Vaikunthapurramlo is 2020 family entertainer starring Stylish Star Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde in lead roles and an ensemble cast of endless celebrities directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The story revolves around Bantu(WHAT A NAME??) and his life with all the ensemble cast.

The plot in the iMDB page actually is a spoiler of sorts because nobody knows it. Remember, do not go to the iMDB page. The story has its special crunch about it that I did not know see in many years.
It has this repeat value about it. Trivikram actually pulled off one of his finest works in here in terms of the story(ONLY). Considering his filmography, that's quite an achievement. The first half is the best. It has a sense of humour that does not make us hilariously laugh but not bad either. This is that kind of humour that keeps you smiling throughout and keeps you engaged. The beginning of the story is the perfect beginning. The attention to detail and the kind of suspense created(WITHOUT ANY ACTUAL SUSPENSE) is the absolute genius stuff. The movie then flows through without any bumps and we do not feel the length of the movie until the interval(A LOT COMPARED TO TODAY'S MOVIES). The second half of the movie though although good looks like a culmination of scenes put together which does not have the same genius strokes of the first half. So, overall a very good screenplay.

The acting of the movie is high quality. Allu Arjun gives one of his best performances and now I feel he has become a complete actor. Pooja Hegde also gave a good performance but she does not have as much as screentime as Aravinda Sametha, her last outing with Trivikram(HER BEST PERFORMANCE). Murali Sharma gets a meaty grey role and he lives in it, what a performance. Tabu, Jayaram, Sachin Khedkar, Akkineni Sushanth, Nivetha Pethuraj, Samuthirakani, Ajay and every artist in the film gave the best performance. Just that, because there are so many characters, the screentime shared by the actor is not enough according to me.

The technical aspects have to be commended. The costume and costume design of the film is so good and trendy that I immediately wanna wear them. The cinematography of the film by P.S. Vinod is the main reason the movie looks bright, popping with colours.(KUDOS TO THE LIGHTING TEAM TOO) The editing of the film by Navin Nooli is very breezy. The music by S.S.Thaman is his very best. The best album of 2020 for sure. Every song is just very good. After watching the film, I love them even more.(THAT'S AN ACHIEVEMENT) The BGM is a big plus for the film. The fights of the film are very over the top. I mean bouncing bodies, that's Boyapati Sreenu style not Trivikram Srinivas style. But then, they fit into the tone of the film, just light hearted fun. But, the main highlight of the film is it's dialogues. If the scene does not work, the dialogues make it work. These are gems to be stored in our hearts.

Overall, Ala Vainkunthapurramlo is my favourite movie of the year, more than Sarileru Neekevvaru. This film has everything, good acting, good story, good technical work..... I recommend this film to everybody. I am ready to watch this for the second time and again and again...

iMDB Rating: 7.6/10
