Matthu Vadalara (2019) Movie Review

A movie which came right in the end of the year and at the beginning of my semester examinations, Matthu Vadalara was that film for me where I wanted to see it so badly but cannot due to obvious reasons. Now that it is on Amazon Prime Video, did this film reach the expectations I had, let's see.
This film will be a non-spoiler review as I definitely know many want to watch it.
Matthu Vadalara is a 2019 thriller comedy starring Sri Simha, Naresh Agastya and Satya in lead roles. The story revolves Babu Mohan, who is leading a miserable life and wants to go back to his village but due to his friends, he ends up in a complicated mess. The rest of the story is how he gets out of the mess and leads his merry life back again.

This story and screenplay is truly phenomenal. I can say that this film is one of the best thrillers in telugu of all time. It has shades of Hollywood movies and English TV shows and has inspirations from certain events in our city. With this, the writers show their fullest potential and make a screenplay of good laughs, good thrills and good reveals which I was very scared about. The lead actors are set in such a way that we are immediately sucked in. Sri Simha's character is an open slate acting as the audience's point of view. Satya's character is the influencer and takes the responsibilities of making the audience laugh. Naresh Agastya's character is the character to watch out for though. As it is a non-spoiler review, I request you to watch the movie to find more about him. There is a serial spoof in the film which is next level creativity. The movie's reveals have enough meat in them to keep the audience engaged. The climax of the movie is very good with the limited budget they had.

The acting is very apt and are one of the main reasons the movie works wonders other than the technical aspects. Sri Simha and Naresh Agastya, the new comers have equally good roles and very good performances partly due to the direction. Vennala Kishore, Brahmaji, Vidyullekha Raman, Pavala Shyamala and Atulya Chandra have less screentime but as they meaty roles, they show off their experience with some amazing performances.

More than the acting, the technical aspects have to be praised.
1. Ritesh Rana-The writer-director does a great job of handling actors and making a good thriller.
2. Kaala Bhairava - The music director- has no songs in it but BGM is catchy and thrilling.
3. Karthika Srinivas - The editor - perfect editing for this thriller, keeps us engaged
4. Cinematography - Suresh Sarangam - The screen popped up due to his cinematography
5. Production Design - A.S. Prakash - Very good sets with literally no budget
The Ravengers get a special mention for their VFX. It was fitting well despite its above par quality. The climax was in their hands and they delivered.

Overall, Matthu Vadalara is a perfect perfect watch. Comprising of great performances, perfect writing and direction with a meaty plot and the hand of great technicians the movie is a must watch for thriller movie lovers and any general audience, it just is that good. Without any further lag, the ratings---

Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019) Movie Review

There are very few actors in the Hindi cinema who can act all nine emotions. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of them, so he deserved a movie in the lead role. I saw him telling he would like a romantic movie as his first film. Now that he got it(PARTLY), how is the film?I never actually saw the trailers for the movie. Let's see how the movie is.
Motichoor Chaknachoor is a middle class drama film (THAT'S A GENRE FOR ME, MORE ON THAT LATER) starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Athiya Shetty in lead roles. The story revolves around Pushpinder, a 36 year old Dubai return and Annie(ANITHA), a person whose ambition is to go to foreign and has rejected as many as 10 matches. The rest of the story is how they meet and what happens next.

The middle class environment has been showcased since 4-5 years of the debut of Ayushmann Khurrana(TORCHBEARER OF THIS GENRE). So, the director took his take on it and it's quite enjoyable. The screenplay is very good as the middle class environment just pops outta screen and touches our hearts. The setting of the story with 2 houses side-by-side with 8-10 characters with each having their own sense of relativity(NO SIMILAR CHARACTERS) makes us very comfortable as a viewer as we are sucked into the movie. But, the main issue here is not about the movie but around the movie. Since, there is saturation in this genre i.e., there are so many films like this, it just does not shine as it is just like them even if it has a different setting. But, it is a good movie nonetheless. Improvement though is required.

The acting is a surprise package. We all know about Nawazuddin Siddiqui but Athiya Shetty really came out of her comfort zone to deliver the most surprisingly performance of the year. Nawazuddin is very much in his elements as he delivers his lines with ease and the body language apt for the role. Vibha Chhiber, Navni Parihar as the mothers with different mindsets are absolutely excellent. The fathers have a smaller role but effective acting make them shine.

The technical aspects work together in tandem to give a good experience to us. The music although good is just so common. The editing is good as the movie is quick paced and the flow is upright. All other aspects are worth mentioning but this article would become longer than ever, so check the iMDB page for other details. The make up on Athiya Shetty though just stands out in the wrong way as it I could easily figure it out.

Overall, Motichoor Chaknachoor is a good-very good film according to me with great acting, good technical values and a heart touching experience. This film will be out on Netflix and until then it will be airing on Colors Cineplex (AND IT's HD CHANNEL). I recommend it to the families who are its target audience and for Nawaz fans like me.

Please share your best films of the Decade.

I am fed up of watching bad films. I am waiting for good films.

So, I want to watch good films.

Please suggest your favourite films of the decade.

Ala Vainkunthapurramlo (2020) Movie Review

The year 2020 got a real good start with the form of these Sankranthi films. These films are big big financial hits and are still continuing to get hefty shares to the distributors. Of course, I could not find the tickets for the film until today. So, is the film worth of all the money? Let's see.
Ala Vaikunthapurramlo is 2020 family entertainer starring Stylish Star Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde in lead roles and an ensemble cast of endless celebrities directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The story revolves around Bantu(WHAT A NAME??) and his life with all the ensemble cast.

The plot in the iMDB page actually is a spoiler of sorts because nobody knows it. Remember, do not go to the iMDB page. The story has its special crunch about it that I did not know see in many years.
It has this repeat value about it. Trivikram actually pulled off one of his finest works in here in terms of the story(ONLY). Considering his filmography, that's quite an achievement. The first half is the best. It has a sense of humour that does not make us hilariously laugh but not bad either. This is that kind of humour that keeps you smiling throughout and keeps you engaged. The beginning of the story is the perfect beginning. The attention to detail and the kind of suspense created(WITHOUT ANY ACTUAL SUSPENSE) is the absolute genius stuff. The movie then flows through without any bumps and we do not feel the length of the movie until the interval(A LOT COMPARED TO TODAY'S MOVIES). The second half of the movie though although good looks like a culmination of scenes put together which does not have the same genius strokes of the first half. So, overall a very good screenplay.

The acting of the movie is high quality. Allu Arjun gives one of his best performances and now I feel he has become a complete actor. Pooja Hegde also gave a good performance but she does not have as much as screentime as Aravinda Sametha, her last outing with Trivikram(HER BEST PERFORMANCE). Murali Sharma gets a meaty grey role and he lives in it, what a performance. Tabu, Jayaram, Sachin Khedkar, Akkineni Sushanth, Nivetha Pethuraj, Samuthirakani, Ajay and every artist in the film gave the best performance. Just that, because there are so many characters, the screentime shared by the actor is not enough according to me.

The technical aspects have to be commended. The costume and costume design of the film is so good and trendy that I immediately wanna wear them. The cinematography of the film by P.S. Vinod is the main reason the movie looks bright, popping with colours.(KUDOS TO THE LIGHTING TEAM TOO) The editing of the film by Navin Nooli is very breezy. The music by S.S.Thaman is his very best. The best album of 2020 for sure. Every song is just very good. After watching the film, I love them even more.(THAT'S AN ACHIEVEMENT) The BGM is a big plus for the film. The fights of the film are very over the top. I mean bouncing bodies, that's Boyapati Sreenu style not Trivikram Srinivas style. But then, they fit into the tone of the film, just light hearted fun. But, the main highlight of the film is it's dialogues. If the scene does not work, the dialogues make it work. These are gems to be stored in our hearts.

Overall, Ala Vainkunthapurramlo is my favourite movie of the year, more than Sarileru Neekevvaru. This film has everything, good acting, good story, good technical work..... I recommend this film to everybody. I am ready to watch this for the second time and again and again...

Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020) Movie Review

Finally, after a week's wait I got to see Sarileru Neekevvvaru. Oh My God, the craze for this film is huge across India as it was a house full today. The film has got such expectations. The craziest combination of Anil Ravipudi, the person behind some of the biggest hits like F2, Supreme, Raja The Great and Pataas and Super Star Mahesh Babu, freaking acting time bomb. Use him well and you get a Dookudu, Okkadu or a Srimanthudu(I AM NOT A FAN OF SSMB). So, did this combination work or not. Let's see.
Sarileru Neekevvaru is a 2020 mass masala comedy entertainer starring Super Star Mahesh Babu, Rashmika Mandanna, Vishwanatabharati Vijayashanti and Prakash Raj in lead roles. The story revolves Major Ajay Krishna and his journey to Kurnool and rest is how and why he confronts Minister Nagendra.

The story and screenplay of Anil Ravipudi has its own unique style. The unique mannerisms given to each and every character, well paced screenplay, an intricately placed commercial full meals are just some of the unique qualities. This film too has every thing the same way. Just that, because it is Mahesh Babu in the lead role, he took the risk of adding every element of offering in the script. You have the military backdrop itself which is very good(IF YOU SAW VENKY MAMA AND ITS ABOMINATION). The foundation is well set in the first 25 minutes but the much anticipated train track was not as good as the other Anil Ravipudi comedy tracks(F2's MARRIAGE TRACK BEING THE BEST). But, at the interval bang, I understood the second half of the movie and man it is so good. Ask me and I would go to such extent of saying this is the best full meals I ever had in quite some time. The scenes with SSMB, Vijayashanti and Prakash Raj are simply the best of the film where villainism, humour, seriousness is woven together very well. The Ramana-load scene is one of my favourites but I wanna know what does that viral dialogue essentially mean. Comment me below in the comments section below. The scene where SSMB puts a bomb and threatens the politicians, that is a treat. The pre-climax of the movie is very goosebumps worthy as the army song plays along.  The climax is a very apt end to an entertaining ride.

The acting of the movie is top-notch. The director extracts the best out of each character. But, Rao Ramesh has been under-utilised. Maybe, a little more clarity and it would have been cleared out.
The technical aspects are top notch. DSP's music is a letdown though(BEING A DIE HARD FAN OF HIM), seems like he tried hard but the magic did not come out though. Cinematography by well known face Rathnavelu is awesome. Editing, is very good despite the runtime being close to 3 hours. BGM is very good. The production values look very rich. I forgot to mention about the choreography. This is undoubtedly the best dancing performance by SSMB

Overall, if you ask me this is the perfect film for SSMB fans. For me, it is a full meals with a little off starters but its okay as the movie is worthy of a theatre watch and it will definitely be a double blast on TV. I am waiting for its release on amazon prime now.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019) Movie Review

A beloved game, brings some nostalgia and brings in some good money. This is supposed to be the template for many video game adaptations. But, almost many films failed as there was no cohesive screenplay written for them. Unfortunately, The Angry Birds Movie is one of them for me as I stopped watching the movie at 10 minutes of the movie. The sequel popped up from nowhere. So, Did the film surprise me or is it just another failed cash grab?
The Angry Birds Movie 2 is a animated comedy movie directed by Thurop Van Orman starring Jason SudeikisJosh GadDanny McBrideMaya RudolphTony HaleBill Hader and Peter DinklageLeslie JonesRachel BloomAwkwafinaSterling K. Brown, and Eugenio Derbez. The story revolves Eagle Island where Zeta lives. Due to circumstances, she is trying to conquer bird island and pig island. Does she conquer them? How, by forming a truce the pigs and birds defeated Zeta forms the rest of the story.

Right out of the park, the screenplay of the film takes a more kid-friendly tone and takes a comedy route with how and low brow humour which works in the favour of the movie. The humour is very well made and is hilarious. The fast pace of the movie also helps set the tone of the film. Red is still the hot-head but now he is cooled down and so is more fun-filled. The speed bird and bomb are well made as the ever-supporting characters. The new characters such as silver or the pig-scientist are good. But, here's the catch. As, they are kid-friendly they do not have any depth to them. They work on their one or two qualities to generate humour but the emotions never come out. But, this movie is definitely not dull or um mean like its predecessor.

The animation of the movie has to be commended. Sony Animation Studios ever since they made Hotel Transylvania have been excelling in cartoon style slapstick CG animation. They incorporate such animation in this movie as well which works for the favour of the movie. The backgrounds are vibrant and colourful. The character design and animation are very true to the video game. They obviously do not have of the Pixar or Disney but yet they work.

The voice cast in the film is the soul of the film. Without them, the film would have become trash. Every actor in the film reveal their funny bone to the audience. The telugu, hindi dub is also very apt without any gimmicky references.

Overall, The Angry Birds Movie 2 is just a fun ride for kids and adults as well if they just wanna become kids. It's a blast on TV and will be definitely the best thing if you watch it with your kids.

90ML (2019) Movie Review

A movie which is based on an syndrome or disorder (HEARD IT BEFORE!!!). This was supposed to be a formula for maruthi but Karthikeya, a rising actor who is trying really hard with the scripts he is choosing but is failing due to its direction took a dig into it. Does he succeed in familiarizing Fatal Alcohic Disorder or is it another failed attempt? Let's find out

90ML is a mass masala comedy drama entertainer directed by Shekhar Reddy Yarra starring Karthikeya, Neha Solanki and Rao Ramesh in lead roles. The story revolves around Devadas ( YEP, THAT REFERENCE) who suffers from Fatal Alcoholic Disorder due to a series of events and how he convinces a family of alcohol haters to make him marry their daughter despite big roadblocks.

The story is interesting and the director also adds characters of good substance in the film to elevate it a few notches higher. The lead character itself is a generic mass hero who carries the whole film on his shoulders with his dancing, fighting and acting. Karthikeya also does a fine job of doing this act with ease. This character is well placed for us to understand the different characters of the movie well. Let's start with the heroine's family. The father(Rao Ramesh) is a traffic police and is the normal person in this family. The wife is a housewife but is an expert in Kalaripayattu, the martial arts in India which originates from Kerala. The elder daughter is a physiotherapist who also knows how to lock body parts(WATCH THE FILM TO UNDERSTAND). The younger daughter is a kung fu black belt holder and is very angry. They call themselves with unique respect which is uncommon and mainly to bring the conflict in the movie, they hate alcohol. The villain in the movie is a roadblock, just to serve some respect otherwise he's just mere comic relief in the film. There's genuine fun with how the villain(NAMED JOHN WICK!!!!) asks why the hero just kick his ass. His henchmen also provide some good laughs as the hero or the heroine and her family kick their ass. The mother and father of the hero too share some fun as they call Sairam to each other.

That's where the good part ends. The first half is just introducing these characters, establishing the story and having fun with it. But, when the story arrives, the movie drags. The second half is a solid proof for this. The conflict shown is so simple that if the hero gives a lecture for 5 minutes, it should be solved. But, for no reason the heroine just yells at the hero and the hero remains silent and repeat. This happens almost till the end of the movie sprinkled with some of the bottom of the barrel villain stuff. So, some inventive stuff just gets diluted(JUST LIKE 90ML ALCOHOL IN 1000L WATER) into regular format commercial film.

The technical aspects re mixed too. Anup Ruben's music is decent with Single Single Seetharani being the best of the lot. BGM is very lacklustre though. Cinematography of the movie is good and makes the movie look rich. Editing is lacklustre but the director is responsible for this. Production values too are medium. The Dance numbers of the movie are the highlights of the film as far as I am concerned. Karthikeya and the choreographers have given a very good video song album.

Overall, the film is mixed bag with good acting from the lead cast and good comedy from the first half but fails in the second half due to the director's vision of making a format commercial film despite its inventive characters. It's a good watch on TV and will definitely pass your time.

Venky Mama (2019) Movie Review

A multistarrer of real mama-alludu Venkatesh-Naga Chaitanya raised the most unexpected expectations. The title 'Venky Mama' too is very solid and very apt for the promotions of the film. I missed it in the theatre due to my semester examinations. Now that it's out on Amazon Prime Video, let's find out how the movie is.
Venky Mama is a 2019 mass masala entertainer starring Victory Venkatesh, Naga Chaitanya, Payal Rajput, Raashi Khanna in lead roles. It revolves around Venkatratnam Naidu and his alludu Karthik and their bond. The rest of the story centres around how their relation is tested in various situations.

The first half of the movie is quite good although the story goes nowhere. The foundation of the movie is laid strongly in the first 15 minutes of the movie. Suspense builds, Comedy works. Venkatesh Rocks. The heart is set in the right place. We actually can observe the momentum slowly falling until the interval. The military scenes in the first half set the tone of the film. But, the second half shit, they screwed up. I told you the momentum was falling, until in the second half, the movie falls flat. The story becomes predictable almost serial like. Then, the anticipated military fight comes along. Although, the idea was good, it looks like a cheap copy of Uri- the surgical strike which makes the experience a little off.

The acting in the movie is subpar. I actually found an equation for this film specifically
Acting(Everybody)-Acting(Venkatesh)-Acting(Naga Chaitanya) = 0
The acting of venkatesh and naga chaitanya and their chemistry is very very good. This is serious though. Senior actors like Nasser, Prakash Raj just scream and just act for their pay check. The heroines you know play their part of looking glamorous and stand in the background like all other heroines in other masala films.

The technical aspects are mixed. The music and score is very good although the songs look dragged with one catchy tune sprinkled all throughout. The cinematography of the movie is very good because it transports us to their world. The editing is very mixed. They have to cut some scenes. The use of green screens is the worst. This particularly shows in the military scenes.

Overall, it is an average mass masala commercial entertainer with good comedy but bad second half. It's okay because it is a commercial entertainer. It's a big hit anyways. So, I would definitely recommend it to all the Venkatesh and NC fans. It would be a fun watch on TV. So, happily watch it.

Joker (2019) Movie Review

When there was an announcement of an origin story about the most celebrated negative character, My reaction was so overwhelming that I couldn't stop myself from watching this movie but again I missed it too. Now that Joaquin Phoenix got his Golden Globe and is waiting to get his Oscar, it's the right time to review the most acclaimed movie of 2019, Joker.
Joker is a 2019 drama tragedy but a comedy film starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert de Niro in lead roles directed by Todd Philips. The story revolves around Arthur Fleck who had never smiled in his entire life. His dreams mocked, his medical disorder destroying him and the people around him treating him like an idiot and always beat him. This leads to him becoming the Joker.

This story and screenplay is intricately detailed and every step of the way, you understand what why and how the proceedings are going on. The connections it establishes with batman(VERY SMALL BUT VERY IMPORTANT) are very very clever. Every character Arthur meets with have their own unique character and leave a lasting impact. I do not want to reveal the spoilers but man they are very spoil-worthy.

The acting here is solid as hell. If not for Joaquin Phoenix giving his best performance in his entire career, this movie would have been another joker film. But, this guy nailed it. Every scene he is in the movie we get hooked to the screen. The physical and mental transformation he got for the film is also the major reason he just lives in the role. Robert de Niro in the film also very solid. He stars in an important scene where Arthur finally becomes the Joker and the tension built in the scene is all his acting prowess. Every actor in the movie gave their best for the film, we all know the credit goes to the director.

Each and every technical aspect should be given credit for giving such an experience. The sets in the film are very immersive and emulate the experience of getting into Gotham city like no other. The score given to the film lifts the whole movie up by 5 notches. The cinematography makes sure that we are transported to the 1981. The editing makes sure that the movie isn't a drag(as this happens with such films). Costume design also should be commended.

There has been talk around the world about this film's message. I just wanna say, getting a good character takes a lot of time. You have to stay cool, even in the toughest of situations. You have to be disciplined, even if you meet the most idiotic person in your life. Between all these, you have to settle your career, get money, maintain a good family life, maintain a good professional career. So, a good character takes time. It's okay if anybody says something to you, just stay calm, he will understand his mistake(IF NOT,MAKE HIM REALISE). Life is tough, just deal with it.

Overall, all 24 crafts of a film come together to give an experience that's just unforgettable. This is not the best comic book movie of the year, but one of the best movies of the year. I definitely recommend it to every film lover around the world. the Academy definitely understood it, therefore so many nominations.

Made In China (2019) Movie Review

I always liked Rajkumar Rao as an actor a lot and so, I was eagerly waiting for his movie "Made in China". But, I missed it in the theatre. I was sad knowing the fact that it was a flop. i know it was released at the wrong time but it was critically acclaimed though. So, now that the movie is finally out on Jio Cinema and also got a TV Premiere on Star Gold, I finally watched it. So, how's the film? Let's find out.

Made in China is a 2019 comedy drama film which is an adaptation of book with the same title starring Rajkumar Rao, Boman Irani, Mouni Roy in lead roles directed by Mikhil Musale. It revolves around Raghuvir Mehta, a wanna be entrepreneur who is desperate for a chance to make it big. The complete movie is just about the changes he makes and a big opportunity he finds in his visit to China which then leads to a series of events.

First kudos to the writer-director Mikhil Musale and Rajkumar Rao to take this subject and never make it look like they were taking a lecture of it. Their lessons of entrepreneurship via a in-form Paresh Rawal are very cheeky and easy to understand for beginners. While that goes along, the topic of sex is joined into the mix and Boman Irani has taken charge of it and then the director blends these points together to make for a fun and breezy screenplay. A suspense element is also added in the mix which is fine but we quickly forget about it.

The acting performances are one of the biggest highlights of the movie. Extended Cameos of Paresh
Rawal and Gajraj Rao work well for the film and they just nailed it. Mouni Roy gives a very real and subtle performance as Raghu's wife. I didn't expect such a performance from her. Boman Irani as Dr. Vardhi gives an amazing performance as every scene he is in the movie gets us hooked right away.
But, easily the best performance in this movie is the lead. Rajkumar Rao delivers a strong performance executing scenes of anger, frustration, naive with such ease.

The music needs a special mention. Every song in the movie gives a nice feel about the situation. Odhani is my favourite of the lot. The movie has good production value. Editing, Cinematography is perfect. BGM is good.

There is one negative in the film for me. There is this thing where in the first half, the hero makes fun of the Chinese language but I felt it was natural and not specifically made for laughs so I excluded it. But, my main problem comes in a scene where Raghu's wife finally comes to know about his husband's job which is not liked by her. There's more to the scene if i say would spoil the movie but that scene had to be the best scene of the movie but it just goes half baked and almost a formality for the director. Watch the movie to understand better.

Overall, Made in China is a very good film with great performances, good music and a breezy experience. A movie which is a blast on TV and be careful which watching with family.

Software Sudheer (2019) Movie Review

Jabardasth, a show that is running for so many years and is producing many comedy artists in the telugu film industry. Some artists tried their fair share of acting as a lead artist but failed miserably. Heck, some leading comedy artists such as Sunil also tried their fair share but failed so many times.
Did Sudigali Sudheer succeed in his attempt of becoming a hero? Let's find out.
Software Sudheer is a 2019 comedy, suspense thriller directed by P. Rajashekhar Reddy starring Sudigali Sudheer, Dhanya Balakrishna in lead roles.

The story revolves around Chandu, a software employee and his heroine(I FORGOT THE CHARACTER NAME) and that's it. This story goes from being a comedy to an action movie to a suspense to being a headache. Anything is okay for me except for a convoluted plot and screenplay. I mean what the hell did the writers think while making this movie. Maybe, they were drunk and put their brains in the freezer instead of their wine bottle and then wrote the script. The first half  was okay at best with some good laughable moments (JABARDASTH TYPE JOKES). But, the second half, I mean I could understand the plot they were going for but OMG, they screwed it up. The screenplay just jumps from one flashback to another and makes the viewing experience so bad for me.

So, the performances. The best part of the movie is the lead hero Sudheer. He did everything the director asked him to do from dancing to comedy to serious acting. Maybe, more experience would make him more clean as an actor. The heroine and all other actors just took their pay check and had fun with the script, no real acting here.

The music just has the same beat in every song and the BGM is fine but there is one track that is laughably bad. Editing of the movie had to be improved a lot because it was very choppy and makes a length of 117 min look longer than ever. Production values could have been improved.

Overall, this movie is a bad watch for me. I don't understand many liked it. I am shocked at the movie rating. The other movie Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu is 100 times better than this movie. I would strongly suggest you to skip this movie. This is another failed attempt of a comedian turned hero concept.

Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu (2019) Movie Review

A comedy movie is always a treat to watch. With the ensemble cast and Srinivas Reddy at the helm of affairs and the teaser and trailers showing the promise, does it live up to the expectations?

Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu is a 2019 comedy film directed by renowned comedy artist Y.Srinivas Reddy starring Srinivas Reddy, Satya, Shakalaka Shankar, Vennala Kishore and maybe atleast 50% of the comedy industry including Jabardasth artists.

The story revolves around Swatrantra kumar (Vennala Kishore) who challenges that he would catch hold of the drug dealers which is increasing in Hyderabad and three short film makers who are desperate for money. I can understand what the film wanted to be and how good it could be but it failed to reach its ultimate potential.

The lead trio Srinivas reddy, Satya and Shakalaka Shankar have a done a very good job with the kind of acting they had to do in the film. Their most hilarious bits come in the Rasgulla episode(MORE ON THAT LATER). Vennala Kishore gets special mention for the best bits of the film(THUG LIFE MOMENTS TOO GOOD). Other cast(THERE ARE TOO MANY NOTED ARTISTS TO MENTION) too give okay to good enough performances. The heroine though maybe the least impressive in the whole bunch.

The major issue with the movie is its screenplay and direction. Srinivas Reddy's inexperience shows as most of the movie until the rasgulla episode just went flat, dull, generic and boring(IT'S A CRIME IN A COMEDY MOVIE). But, the ultimate saving grace is the Rasgulla episode. All actors in the movie come together with their comedy timing on point to give a hilarious climax to otherwise a bland comedy film. But, only if the rest of the movie was good.

The music is not worth mentioning. The editing, even if it is sharp it could not save the movie from being a little more interesting. The production seems low but they gave their best to deliver something good with the material.

Overall, as a comedy movie lover (COMEDY > HORROR) it is a disappointment for me. I would recommend this film for those who love comedy films the most(IT'S STILL DULL, BUT THEY WOULD GET MORE FROM IT). It's a far better watch on TV than in the theatres. So, if you wanna watch this movie on OTT, its a timepass but you know the deal. Zero expectations, brain in the freezer.

I hope this bunch of actors would come with a better script and with complete comedy timing.

Countdown (2019) Movie Review

Idea - Excellent
Execution - ??????????

Countdown is a 2019 horror thriller film written and directed by Justin Dec starring Elizabeth Lail ,  Jordon Calloway and others.

It revolves basically around a mobile application named "Countdown" which tells you when you are gonna die. It also consists of a plot thread about a nurse, their family, her lover and an event risking her career. But, all these plots are half baked and the lead actress as well looks completely off at times(her eye co-ordination missing) pulling down the movie a lot.

I liked the idea of a horror movie centred on death, technology etc. but basically could not connect with story they were presenting. To have a mobile application connected to supernatural elements is bizarre because there is no proper details of who done it. The movie states why it is happening via a hip dude church father but there are questions yet to answer at the end.

The scares in the movie are basic at times and punchy at other times. My favourite was the one with the hero(MAYBE) in the restroom. The BGM is just basic and feels like it is taken from the stock.

The phone repair shop person has the best bits i.e., humour loaded with funny roasts particularly his entry scene. (AT LEAST FOR ME)

But, the real positive is that despite all the shortcomings in the movie, it has you hooked until the very end.

Overall, Countdown which has a good idea but is not executed well. It has good tension but no character registers strongly. Thus, it makes a movie just made for scares which are good at times but leave no lasting impact. There is also a snippet at the end for a sequel (THEY BETTER DO NOT AS IT IS A FLOP.)

Finally, I would conclude by saying that for horror movie lovers like me, it would be an average watch but for others if you wanna this movie, have no expectations and just put your brain in the freezer for a better experience.
